Color Choice that matters

The blotting violet ink have half kissed my index finger and dried out. It would be there for a couple of days and then dissolve out like the passion in the city that is prevailing for last few weeks and expected to reach a peak in next month and then slowly retrace its path to normalcy. To exercise rights had my first cup of tea earlier than normal. Picked up a neutral color from the wardrobe and fit in an informal dress code to stand out as a cool voter. Tugged the Id card, the polling slip in the jeans pocket and slipped into the cherry red 'Marie Claire'. The velcro of my left shoe had lost its power to grip and hence was pushed to one corner of the shoe rack. I had changed to a new model a few months back – convenience thy name.

New look is always alluring and more so when one gets over not so wanted a problem with the existing one. Shoe is so important a daily commodity – one can feel only when you hit discomfort. Quite by chance after a long span the street cobbler turned up yesterday and the shoe was repaired. Today had to pick between the old and the new from the rack.

It took me five mins to reach the same school compound that I visit every election for past one decade and realized that it was new room this time. The central police was all in action all over. A few known neighbourhood faces in the 30 odd voters queue. One among them was our apartment caretaker standing with a vibrant glow to cast his vote. Democracy made us stand at par. We patiently waited as a few senior citizen got discount over us.

In lower school days in neighbourhood playground we played a no-brainer game – “Color, Color what Color do you choose?” It was game of chance. You survive only if you have the color on command in the community. It was more of commotion, flight and fight for color war, a chorus of wining echo, a wailing fear of losing, and finally one winner – lonely one.

Standing in the open school campus waiting for right to execute democracy, suddenly recollected this long lost game. Often in childhood we play many nameless games more in sports. As we grow we play the same game with a cause to it. Change is often inevitable, more so when we stand on a break-even on a timescale. Back home opened my old shoe just to feel often a small mending can give it a feel of new. Not sure whether we have a role called Political Cobbler?

Waiting to watch what my state pressed – New or Refresh!

Gyan #30- Old and New are both equal stakeholder of an ecosystem.
