Outsourced

The compressing summer have given way to overflowing monsoon with its share of pain and pleasure. It was two weeks back, I was on the last leg of my journey back home. Boarded the airport transit bus at Mumbai airport to move towards the vessel for Kolkata. A heavy shower had left the glass walls of the bus hazy. Morning flights generally have business professionals more in number and curious ears became attentive to over hear.

"Hello Sir ! " - It all started with that ...
Ex-Region manager meeting his Ex-Area supervisor after quite some time is what I concluded in next few seconds. They were a part of same team and were chasing the same goal some time back. Heard the word "Volume" quite a number of times. They recalled their cherished memories of how volume grew leaps and bounds. Back from memories they grounded to understand what are they chasing these days.
The transit was seemingly getting dragged. Just when I was being bit impatient, heard
"So when is your marriage?"
"This winter!"
"So new job, new house , new wife!"

It was getting exciting. Guess I got unmindful and missed the property part of the transaction.

"It was great pleasure meeting you "- a genuine sense prevailed.
"Why don't you come down some day to our place, Summit, Sruti and Vivek stays in our apartment. We can celebrate an ex-team meet !"
"Are you in Mumbai next week?" - was what quickly followed.

Unbelievably we were still on transit..

"Back from Kolkata, next week in Singapore this month."
"I would be also in Singapore next month."
"Well I would be in Malaysia then!"

I realized to have been sandwiched between fast life of unknown global citizens chasing business volumes. On sudden turn of the bus could see a fair outline of a vessel in my range of vision.

"When did you last visit Dispur ? "
"My wife did her yearly visit over the summer vacation of kids and meet my parents".
"How about you?" I overheard a sense of disconnect.
"Outsourced it to wife sometime back "....smart laughter followed.

A wet blast slashed my face as the transit bus door opened up the door. World of business jargon often confuses how we look at life. '6F' was by the window. Drops of water trickled down the glass plane. We were ready to take-off. Many minds in the air!

Gyan #32 - Over hearing can be unpleasant too.
