After a few fast passing week ends, planned for movie break
with a friend of mine. A short message in the morning conveyed her ailing
mother’s aya ditched and hence she
can’t make it! Washed off momentary disappointment and completed some left over
work to start for City Mall for an early evening show. The mall
was bouncing with energy - almost every alternate lady was so fashionable, so gorgeous
and so perfect! A few young men cluttered in the ground floor around catty
girls jockeying a branded car.
The smell of popcorn was half a payback and the rest was
waiting in hall number 3. While the theater was being cleaned, among the many cine
lovers, I stood beside an exuberant pair. They appeared to be on the edge of leaving
college. However their dating movements missed sweetness of age, it was more
flashy and fleshy. I followed them in the near dark room and moved up the
gallery to step into row B and they happened to be just behind me.
…… The make shift world started rolling on the silver
screen. The hall loudly sighed to see the dancing Madhuri within the first 15
minutes of the movie. Yes you guessed it correct; it was Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani from Dharma production. The movie was
following 6 sigma. No emotional fat. The world was far from reality yet so
close. Ranbir and Deepika were fresh in look and balanced in expression. They
complimented each other very well. If page 3 is true, must say they are too
high on professional commitment. The splash of color across all the song
sequences added extra life to the movie. Had a hot coffee during break! The confused
two on the row A had papri-chat and
steered towards all possibilities of togetherness – as much as Fame Theater could afford.
YJHD was focused on intangible moments of different types of
friendship. Nice exploration. The best part of the movie was the moonlight trekking
on the snow laid Manali. Mountain lovers would get a push to plan their next
trip. Don’t forget Makemytrip, they did a good promotion. The first sequence of
hero’s journey with heroine, for a moment reminded me of Raj and Simram of DDLJ. The
onscreen chemistry was good enough to bump up energy. It reminded faces of good
friends mostly lost in the run of life.
Navigated the overcrowded food court to accelerate and
finally stepped out of the air-conditioned mall. The air was sticky. Crossed
few lanes and kept walking alone with bunch of friends in mind – front benchers
and back benchers. Life keeps moving you lose some in the journey by choice and
some by chance. Good movies come forth to remind them once in a while. It has a
de-stressing effect!
The little that I could bundle and bounce it back to you is
a ball of snow from hills of Manali on the silver screen. If you are wondering
why I blogged a movie review, that was just to spice up energy for friends who
are locked to situations and unable give life a small break to refuel. Karan Johar and Ayan Mukherji had packaged an energy capsule (for all age J) – go get entertained!
I also had a chance to see the movie in the last week of May and enjoyed it for all its freshness and entertainment. But somewhere in the newspaper discovered later, as per Faroookh's comment that except for the temple and couple of spots, it was all Gulmarg, instead of Manali, where the shooting happened - Arindam
